Writing Has Always Been My Mirror.

How Journaling Shaped My Voice.

I was 12 when I wrote my first “journal entry.”
It wasn’t deep. It was a rainy evening and everyone else were sleeping but me, who stood by the window daydreaming. I wasn’t allowed to go play in the rain, so, I wrote.

It started with dreams. Then complaints. Then confusion. Then crushes. Then clarity.

Before I knew it, journaling became my way of thinking.
When life didn’t make sense, I’d pour it into paper. No rules. No filter. No punctuation or grammar check. Just me, my pen, and my wahala.

Over time, I realized:
Writing was never just about the words — it was about seeing myself clearly. It was therapy!

There were things I couldn’t say out loud, but my journal knew.
Fears I couldn’t name, but I could scribble.
Dreams I didn’t even believe in, but somehow, they made it onto the page.

You see, before I found my public voice — the one that teaches, builds websites, and posts online — I had a private one.
A soft one.
One that whispered, “You’re allowed to take up space.”

And maybe that’s what journaling really is — not a cute aesthetic, but a survival skill.

You don’t need to be a writer to keep a journal.
You just need to be honest.

Try this today:
Download Google Keep or any Notepad in your mobile phone.
Take 5 minutes. Write one honest sentence.
Start with: “Right now, I feel…”
Don’t edit it. Don’t overthink it. Just write.

You’ll be shocked by what your voice has been waiting to say.

Let’s Talk:

What’s one thing you’ve never said out loud… but could write down today?

Pause, take a break and pour it out in writing. It could tastes like a chilled Coke on a very hot afternoon in Lagos.
