How I Plan My Week on Saturdays… and Still Have Time for Afang soup.

Some people see Saturdays as rest days. I see them as reset days.
It’s the quiet pause between the madness of last week and the mystery of the next. Before I Netflix, gist, or press my phone endlessly, I take out time to do something that keeps my mind clear and my week lighter — I reflect and plan.

Because here’s the truth: if you don’t slow down to look at where you’re going, you’ll keep running in circles. And in this Lagos, nobody has strength for unnecessary circles.

How I Use Saturdays to Reset My Life?

  • Reflect Before You Plan:
    I start with honesty hour.
    • What did I achieve this week?
    • What didn’t I get to do?
    • What stressed me out?
    • What made me proud?
This reflection reminds me to celebrate the small wins and make peace with what didn’t work out.

  • The Big 3 Rule:
Out of all the to-dos running in my head, I pick just three important goals for the new week.
    • One personal
    • One work/study-related
    • One wellness/joy-related
This keeps me focused and not overwhelmed.

  • Loose Time Blocking:
I don’t do a strict hourly plan. I just group my tasks into parts of the day:
    • Morning (high energy)
    • Afternoon (responsive work, and sending out job applications.)
    • Evening (rest, journaling, chats, maybe calls)
Think of it as giving your week a rough sketch instead of a detailed painting.

  • Budget & Meals Check:
A quick glance at my account balance (no shock allowed), and I list meals I can make to survive the week without breaking the bank.

  • Set One Clear Intention:
    Just one.
Mine could be: “Focus on progress, not perfection.” It keeps me grounded when the week gets noisy.

Remember,
Saturdays are more than for laundry and vibes. They’re your chance to reset, refocus, and cheer yourself on. Be your own planner, therapist, and cheerleader.

Start small. Plan smart. And yes — there’s still time for that afang soup.
