‘Adulting’ Is a Scam… But We Move

Nigerian Girl Lifestyle Series

If this was a group chat, I’d start with: “Guys, I can’t believe I’m going back to Computer Village. Again.”

A friend had told me there’d be a second series of “Chronicles of Computer Village”… I had laughed it off, but here I am staring at my laptop like it’s an ex that won’t text back.
It has refused to come on. Again.
And if I visit Computer Village one more time this month, I’m opening a loyalty card program.

Yes, this will be my fourth trip.

Real Life Update:

They didn’t warn us that “adulting” would be this chaotic.
You wake up with a to-do list and go to bed with a try again tomorrow face.
From fixing tech wahala to checking bank alerts like it’s a pulse monitor, everything feels like a fight for peace.

But you know what’s wild?
We keep showing up.
We keep moving.

My Laptop wahala could be a lesson…

This laptop wahala isn’t just tech stress. It’s a metaphor.
For how fragile our plans can be.
One moment you’re excited to write, work, or create. The next moment, it’s blank screen. No response. Silence.

But here’s the real lesson: You must learn to reboot.
To pause. Regroup. Seek help. Try again.
Because even on our most frustrating days, we’re learning how to adapt.

Why This Matters?

If you’re a Nigerian girl trying to build, create, earn, rest, and stay sane all at once—you’re not alone.
We don’t always have power. Or internet. Or working gadgets.
But we have grit.
We have hope.
And that’s something.

So maybe the real win is not that everything is perfect.
Maybe it’s that we’re still showing up in the middle of the mess.
Still dreaming. Still writing. Still laughing in the chaos.

Let’s Talk:

  • What’s your own version of “this laptop won’t come on”?
  • How do you stay grounded when everything seems to be falling apart?
  • What’s one lesson adulting has taught you recently?
