We Rise by Lifting Others

When I was in school, I lost my SIM card.

No big deal, right? Until you realize that every “Please, send me your number” becomes a maths test.

I got a new SIM, but I was too lazy to memorize it. Anytime someone asked for my contact, I’d quickly open my phone and read it out like it was a verse from the book of Numbers. 😂

One day, my friend came to my room and said, “Enough is enough. We’re memorizing this number today.”
She started calling it out, and I repeated after her like we were rehearsing a choir piece. “0803…” “0803…” “799…” “799…”

We laughed through it, stumbled a few times, and somehow it turned into a mini bonding moment.
Later that evening, we went out, and someone asked for my number again. Before I could even reach for my phone, my friend proudly called it out—offhand!
She had memorized it while helping me memorize.

That moment stuck with me. She didn’t gain anything from it. But while helping me, she grew too.

Sometimes, we think helping others takes from us. But it rarely does. Most times, it multiplies us.
You teach someone, and you learn better. You encourage someone, and your own faith strengthens. You lift someone up, and somehow your hands get stronger too.

The truth is—growth is contagious. You can’t genuinely push others forward without moving too.
So if you ever feel stuck, maybe start by helping someone else unstuck. There’s a strange magic in that.

Like my friend and that phone number, sometimes your blessing is hidden in another person’s “rehearsal.”
Because truly, we rise by lifting others and there is enough space in the sky for everyone.
